Charles has been working in period furniture restoration and architectural and bespoke joinery for 37 years. He has an excellent ‘eye’ and ‘feel’ for all things period as well as having a natural ability with period design and style. Charles has continued to build on his extensive knowledge of English and French furniture and design covering most periods. Over this time Charles has established a wide range of contacts with associated Trades- People and professional bodies, Charles contacts enable him to quickly source furniture and items of salvage, so along with his fully trained staff and exceptionally well equipped workshops, tools and Plant, he is able to carry out all aspects of restoration.
Charles Jarvis began his distinguished career at an antiques business in Bradford on Avon in Wiltshire, starting with a five year apprenticeship as a cabinet maker and furniture restorer and spending his last six years as the supervisor of the workshop.
With the help of internal training and external courses as well as a considerable degree of self determination he developed sound judgement on the best and most economical way of performing both difficult and straightforward tasks with the highest level of skill. Although sorry to leave, Charles felt it was natural progression to start his own company, he established Charles Jarvis in Warminster in 1986 and quickly became known for his quality and expertise and a sense of period style which was beyond that of many Cabinet Makers.
Today, Charles and his staff offer world-class work across a range of styles, with a broad client base across the UK.
