Projects Past & Present

Charles Jarvis Ltd has undertaken a variety of projects for both private and commercial clients. A few examples are highlighted below.

Hazlitts Hotels

Charles began working with a London Hotelier in the mid 1990’s. The group includes Hazlitts in Soho and The Rookery in the City and a further development scheduled for opening in 2014.

As well as repairing and restoring these wonderful buildings, their period interiors and exteriors, Charles and his workshop have been responsible for sourcing and restoring the furniture. Four Posters, Half Testers, wardrobes, writing tables etc. This has included some innovative ways of disguising new technology housed within period features and furniture.

Gothic Folly: Isle of Wight

This project took six years from greenfield site to completion, built mainly from reclaimed materials and where possible architectural salvage. Working closely with client and architect, the building was designed to incorporate many interesting building concepts of modern design and technology. The building looks as though it has always been there.

The interior of the Folly has been furnished in true period style and colours.

Antique Dealers

Charle Jarvis Ltd enjoys a longstanding relationship with many local antique dealers and undertakes the restoration and repair of furniture on their behalf. It is not unusual for local restorers to bring difficult items to Charles for advice or for the workshop to undertake the restoration.
